HOW TO LEARN?
REALMS
VLE-X10 is an experimental learning environment designed for digital art courses at UBC.
VLE-X10 explore the potentials of DIGITAL INTERFACES (DI) for the articulation of NEW LEARNING EXPERIENCES attuned to emerging forms of knowledge formation and dissemination, and to new sensibilities shaped by online communications.
VLE-X10 investigates questions such as:
What new learning experiences become possible within this emerging language?
What are the potentials of the digital interface as a visual artifact for reflecting on contemporary conditions and for the exploration of new artistic languages?
VLE-X10 is an emerging online galaxy—an expanding microverse.
In a world under constant transformation, where established norms and boundaries rapidly lose relevance and new forms of knowledge proliferate, VLE-X10 asks:
WHAT ARE THE NEW PATHS FOR ART?
Inspired by the visual language and allure of video games and online worlds, VLE-X10 envisions learning as a playful odyssey—a journey of discovery across diverse realms, guided by curiosity and intuition.
VLE-X10 is a universe in its infancy. Yet vast uncharted territories await exploration. While it orbits around the visual arts, in an image-centered world it offers pathways for many forms of inquiry and participation.

Over the past half century, digital interfaces have become the primary global medium of communication, THE EPICENTER OF CONTEMPORARY CULTURE.
They function simultaneously as LANGUAGE and IMAGE— both the dominant mode of expression of the present and its most pervasive visual artifact.
This makes DI an exciting area for exploration of new forms of expression and the creation of other learning experiences
